This Workshop on demobilization of African troops was organized by USAID in collaboration with the National Security Council. The purpose of this meeting was to prepare a draft framework for international cooperation in planning and implementing demobilization activities. It was attended by over ninety participants including delegates from several US government agencies, representatives of UN and other multilateral agencies, delegates from bilateral donor organizations, representatives of international and African Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), academics, policy makers, and practitioners. It was held in Nairobi, Kenya on March 20 and 21, 2001. Multi-media presentations from all sessions are included under the agenda section of this site. The USAID sponsored Linking Complex Emergency Response and Transition Initiative (CERTI) prepared this multi-media conference site.
