International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC)
Dedicated to assisting victims of war and internal violence. Comprehensive information on humanitarian law, news and operations. Up to date country and regional activities. International Review of the Red Cross issues online from 1995 to 1998.

Women and War
The site was created on the occasion of the launch of the study Women facing War on 17 October. It follows the same thematic approach as the rest of the Women and War products and includes excerpts of the study highlighting the impact of armed conflict on women, a section on IHL and a range of multimedia and interactive features.

Electronic Development and Environment Information System (ELDIS)
Contains a thorough database of Evaluation Reports by various agencies working in development and complex emergencies, as well as links to various how-to evaluation guides, news and discussion networks, and background evaluation papers. Can use site search engine to find documents on various development subjects including complex emergencies.

INCORE Initiative on Conflict Resolution and Ethnicity
Has emergency and conflict information such as Conflict Data Services and Ethnic Conflict Research Digest. Its main feature are various internet guides which provide extensive information per country and on thematic basis as well: The Internet Guide provides numerous links to various organizations and links organized on a per-country basis (includes e-mail lists, news sources, academic articles, NGOs, maps). The Thematic guides have information about internet resources around particular themes associated with conflict and ethnicity (e.g. women and conflict, landmines, religion and conflict, etc).

Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) Disaster/Humanitarian Assistance
The site for the PAHO Emergency Preparedness and Disaster Relief Coordination Program. Includes information on dealing with disasters and access to publications and training materials in HTML and PDF format. Access to more than 11,000 documents online through the Regional Disaster Information Center (CRID) for Latin America and the Caribbean. Quarterly editions of the newsletter DISASTERS: Preparedness and Mitigation in the Americas from 1995 to present in PDF format. Contains information on SUMA, an organization that provides manuals and software for the supply and management of humanitarian relief supplies.

United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR)
Comprehensive site profiling current UNHCR activities. Containing: press releases, refugee statistics, reference materials, regional maps, country maps and online documentaries.

Amnesty International Library
Lists Amnesty International country/region, thematic, campaign, and annual reports focusing on human rights. Some reports begin in 1994; most are very recent (present year).

InterAction
Site for the American Council for Voluntary International Action, a coalition of more than 150 non-profit organizations working worldwide. In the "Disasters" section, provides information on current emergencies, country situation reports, disaster response directory, etc. It provides PVOs with a framework for coordination, joint planning and information sharing in emergency response activities.

AlertNet - The Reuter Foundation Network
Up to date postings of news releases from aid agencies. You can also search for specific news releases. Provides latest news reports on relief activities world-wide. News brief format.

World Food Program
Comprehensive site for the food aid organization of the United Nations. Includes emergency reports, information from emergency field operations, and country/theme specific data through the Vulnerability Analysis Mapping (VAM) program for disaster mitigation.

Centre for Refugee Studies (CRS)
Home site for the Centre for Refugee Studies of York University. Includes announcements, papers, speeches, and information on education programs. Prevention/Early Warning research unit developing early warning system to deal with humanitarian emergencies, complex emergencies and conflict areas.

The U.S. Committee for Refugees (USCR)
Defending the rights of all uprooted people regardless of their nationality, race, religion, ideology, or social group. News and updates on current humanitarian emergencies as well as USCR campaigns.

International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies
The world's largest humanitarian network. World wide directory of 170 world wide IFRC offices Up to date stories and information from current operations. Access to IFRC reports and catalog of publications.

USAID Famine Early Warning System (FEWS)
Contains online bulletins from 1997 to the present, as well as special reports on recent famine/emergency situations around the world. Also includes extensive weather analysis and mapping tools.

USAID Humanitarian Response
Timely situation reports from USAID offices world wide. Information on Food For Peace, Food For Development and International Disaster Assistance programs.

United Methodist Committee of Relief (UMCOR)
News and information on UMCOR emergency response, world hunger/poverty, and refugee programs. Each program site contains resources and links to related sites.

Human Rights Web
A resource for information about human rights. Includes introduction and history of the human rights movement, as well as human rights documents and resources from the United Nations and elsewhere.

Doctors Without Borders USA
Deliver medical relief to populations in danger due to war, civil strife, epidemics or natural disasters. Site contains updates, press releases, and articles concerning current medical relief operations.

Medecins Sans Frontieres
The international site of the Doctors Without Borders organization. Frequent updates, press releases and news of MSF medical relief activities.

CDC Office of Global Health (OGH)

Lutheran World Relief

ODI - Overseas Development Institute

Compiles news reports, documents, and policy statements from over 200 global justice organizations. Includes many articles related to conflict and complex emergencies. One World Search Engine accesses many available papers, abstracts, and publications from various organizations and web sites.

Ethno-Net Africa
Ethno-Net Africa is a UNESCO-MOST network of African social scientists engaged in comparative research, monitoring and evaluation of ethnic conflicts and social change in Africa. It attempts to address ethnic issues in a more constructive, comparative and regional perspective, identifying common denominators and drawing lessons from experiences in specific countries and regions.
